Noah's Shark Tooth box

Dave's brother and his family recently came down to Florida for vacation.  The oldest, Noah, who is 7 really wanted to find some shark teeth.  While out to dinner with them one night he told me about his unsucessful search that day on the beach to find shark's teeth.  Finally Noah found two shark's teeth to take home with him to North Carolina.  Where did he find them??? At the local souvenir shop!  Well at least he was able to bring a couple home and start his "collection".  He was worried about what to put them in to keep them safe from his little sisters.  So I came home one evening and I made this little box for him to keep his shark's teeth in.  I used papers from Fancy Pants Nautica and Bella Blvd Max collections.

I had the washi tapes in my stash and am not quite sure where I got it.  His mom filmed a thank you from Noah for me and she asked him what his favorite thing about the gift was.  Do you know what his answer was?  His favorite thing was the cotton inside the box so his shark's teeth will be protected!!  LOL  I could have skipped the decorating and just stuffed a box full of cotton and he would have been happy!  Sheesh!

I am entering this project over at Simon Says Stamp's Monday Summer challenge.

Thanks for stopping by my blog.

Celebrating 50 Years!!

My wonderful in-laws Rich and Diana are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary this week.  What an honor to make a card for them!  They are fun, wonderful, generous people who accepted me and made me their daughter as soon as we told them we were getting married.  I love them like my own parents and are thrilled to see them celebrate this milestone.  Dave's brother Aaron and his wife Cheri and Dave and I are sending Rich and Diana on an all expense paid cruise in a couple of months.  I hope they have the time of their life....they certainly deserve it.

I used this great sketch from Sketch-N-Scrap for my card:

I am also entering this card in the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Anything Goes challenge.

Thanks for stopping by tonight....I really appreciate all the wonderful comments left.

Snuggle Bunny

This last visit to see my family in the Midwest was a time of bonding with my granddaughter Izzy.  In previous visits she was a bit stand-offish.  Not so last March....she was definately grandma's girl giving me loads of hugs, kissed and snuggles. Now whenever her mom and I are talking on the phone, Izzy always wants to talk to grandma.  Nothing could make me happier!

For this page I used this sketch by Laura Whitaker for Stuck Sketches:

Well, we made it through Monday....because of the upcoming holiday, I only have 3 more days to work this week....woo hoo!  Thanks for stopping by my blog tonight.

Seas the Day

I had such an awesome time with my grandsons last summer that although I already scrapped the pictures of their trip for their scrapbooks, there were several pictures that I wanted to have in my scrapbook.  This was one of them.  I just love this picture of Jake and Cole together on Flagler Pier last July.  I used my current favorite collection....October Afternoon's Treasure Map and this awesome sketch by Laura Whitaker.  She really knocked another one out of the park.  I especially love using her sketches for boy/masculine pages.

This sketch was for Boys Rule Scrapbook Kits and I am entering it in their June sketch challenge.  You can see all the details HERE.  There is still time to enter.

Celebrate Creativity

I am thrilled that my granddaughters seems to love getting crafty as much as I do.  When I went out to see them last March I brought water colors and water coloring paper.  They paint all the time, their parents tell. me and that makes this grandma VERY happy.

I used Bella Blvd.'s Color Chaos collection for this page and another awesome sketch by Laura Whitaker.  This one is for Stuck? Sketches:

I am so glad this work week is nearly over for me....tomorrow is Friday....Woo Hoo!!

Thanks for stopping by.

Bowling at Cabana Bay

The Cabana Bay Resort at Universal Orlando is an awesome place to stay and make life long family memories.  I highly recommend it.  We stayed there last summer with my grandsons and had a blast.  One night we all went to the 60's retro bowling alley...the Galaxy Bowl.  It was a riot.  I found this paper by Imaginisce and knew it was perfect to scrap a couple of pictures from the evening.  I used this sketch from My Scraps and More Sketches:

I am also entering this page in the June Scrap Much? Color Challenge.  I had to use at least 4 of these colors:

I used all of them except the aqua/seafoam green on the left and the second from the right pink.

Thanks for stopping by....my work is more than half over....woo hoo!!

Hey Sweets

Last night I just felt like making a couple of cards and when I saw this sketch #17 from ShowCASe Your Style, I immediately liked it and decided to use it to make a summery card.

The paper is American Crafts Dear Lizzy and so is that adorable ice cream come.  The sentiment is Paper Smooches which is one of my favorite stamp companies.  I found that stamp set at a small craft store that was going out of business and I got it for next to nothing.  This is the first time I inked it up.  I decided to heat emboss it to make it stand out more.  Heat embossing is one of my very favorite techniques to use.

I am entering this card not only into the sketch challenge at ShowCASe Your Style but also at the Simon Says Stamp's Wednesday challenge to use a favorite product (Paper Smooches) or technique (heat embossing).

Thank goodness Monday is OVER....bring on the rest of the week!

Fabulous is a Frame of Mind

I was in the mood tonight to make a couple of cards so I dug up a couple of sketches and one of the cards I made was this card with a flamingo on it.  I am currently drawn to anything with flamingos and I love this sentiment stamp set from My Favorite Things.  I used their sketch for this card as well:

Thanks for stopping by my blog....have a wonderful week.

Summer 2014

Last summer we had so much fun when my grandsons came down to Florida for a week.  I made them a mini album of their trip but some of the pictures I wanted to scrap and put in my album.  This picture was one of them.  I loved this picture that I snapped of Jake and Cole in the lobby of Universal's Cabana Bay Resort as we were standing in line to check in.  We had and awesome (and exhausting) couple of days there and made some life long memories.

I used this sketch from Scrap Much? and I am entering it in their sketch challenge.

I am also entering it in Clique Kits June Anything Goes challenge
and
the Scrappy Friends Word challenge (I used the word "Summer" in my title)

The Little Things -- Birthday Pancakes

This is my last week as the guest design team member at Lasting Memories (insert frowny face here ).  I have really enjoyed being challenged by the themes this month and want to thank Karen and Michelle for extending the offer.  The theme today is the little things that matter most.

This past March my husband and I traveled up to the Midwest to be there for my granddaughter's birthday.  She turned 7 on March 7th which made it her golden birthday and we wanted to celebrate with her. Abby's party was on Saturday and then to continue the celebration, she got to stay home from school on Monday.  Dave and I picked her up bright and early and took her out to breakfast.  The little diner had "birthday pancakes" on the menu so OF COURSE Abby ordered them.  They came with a sweet glaze and TONS of sprinkles on them.  They were pretty, fun and delicious!  Abby loved them and I loved spending time with her one-on-one.  After breakfast we took her shopping to Toys R Us and Wal-Mart where she got to spend her birthday cash and gift cards.  Hopefully it is a day she will always remember.  I remember the little things that my grandparents did with me as I was growing up and how they always made me feel special.  The little things often to turn out to be the big things in life as we look back.

I used nearly all Doodlebug papers and embellishments for this page and this sketch by Brenda Ragsdale:

I am entering it in her Grand Diva Sketch challenge

I am also entering it in:
The June 1st Picture This Challenge (use 2 photos + banner + flags)

Thanks for stopping by today....and Happy First Day of Summer!!

Another Father's Day card

My son Adam is an amateur photographer and is pretty talented.  He really has an eye for composing a photo.  Recently he posted this photo on Instagram that he took of himself with just the timer on his cell phone.  I think it is pretty darn good.

I took my inspiration from his self portrait for a Father's Day card I made for him.  He is a pretty amazing dad also.  I used one of my favorite techniques -- heat embossing -- for the sentiment on this clean and simple card. I also used one of my favorite products....my little wood veneer potty people.

So....I am entering this card in Simon Says Stamp's Wednesday challenge -- Use a Favorite Technique or favorite product.

Guess what???  It is almost the weekend!  Yay!  I LOVE the weekends.

For You Dad

One of my favorite Authentique collections ever is the collection I used for this Father's Day card for my dad in Colorado.  It is called Anchored and I love it.  In fact, I bought 2 and 3 pieces of each sheet in the collection.  I will be very sad when I use it all up.  I used this great sketch from Viva La Verve:

There is still plenty of time to enter the sketches this month over at the Verve Sketch challenge blog,  You can see all the details HERE

Thanks for stopping by tonight .  I love receiving your comments.

Paper Issues June Card Sketch

I woke up this morning with a terrible head cold....ugh, I hate being sick.  Especially on a weekend and in June!  Who gets a cold in June???? But if I am not feeling better tomorrow morning, I foresee a sick day at home.  Yuck....I hate using my sick days to be sick.  lol.  So even though I was not feeling well, I HAD to make 3 Father's Day cards today so they can be mailed with gift cards tomorrow.  My sons live in Illinois and Indiana and my dad is in Colorado.  Since we were busy with attending the Stanley Cup Finals last weekend and then this past week we worked 3.5 days and had Dave's brother and family in from North Carolina, I have had no crafty time available.  Luckily, I had this awesome layout to work with by Corri Garza for Paper Issues Sketchy Saturday.  Here is my take on the sketch:

Everything I used is from my older stash and it feels so good to use up my older stuff. The card with the star on it is a 3x4 Simple Stories card that I cut down.  The green paper which I found in my scrap basket, is from an older Imaginisce camping themed collection and the brown card base is from an OLD Tim Holtz 12x12 paper pad.  The sentiment is from CAS-ual Friday Stamps.

Thanks for checking out my blog,  I think I will go to bed now and be miserable...lol

The Journey is Sweeter With You

I have been married to my wonderful husband for only 12 years but we have packed so many fun times and memories into that time it is amazing.  We have had our rough patches as well because every journey has those tough areas to navigate.  But through it all we have clung to each other and he has made my journey through this life so much sweeter.  And I think he would say the same thing about me.

I was inspired by the new theme this week over at Lasting Memories -- The Journey.  I could have gone so many directions with this theme....documenting our many trips but I am glad I decided to make a page to celebrate our life's journey together.  I used this awesome sketch from Paper Issues Sketchy Saturday:

I really loved this sketch because I felt the sketch helps guide your eyes around the page and creates movement.  I look forward every month to the sketches at Paper Issues.

I am also entering this sketch at the Scrap Our Stash June challenge BRADS.  Here is how I used something on this page for each of the letters:
B: Bicycle
R: Rust colored alphas and round sticker
A: Anchor and arrows
D: Dots (black enamel dots in upper right corner)
S: Slide frames and stickers

One more challenge that I am entering this page in is Clique Kits June Challenge....Anything Goes

Thanks for stopping by and checking out my creations.  I love reading your comments.

Happiness -- Lasting Memories Guest Designer Week #2

Today I get to show you my second project that I created for Lasting Memories.  The gals there have been so organized and easy to work with, that I am really enjoying the themes/challenges this month.  When I saw the theme this week was Happiness, all I could think of was doing another page in my wedding album redo.  I created my wedding album when I first started scrapping and I decided to re-do it and keep all the pages in the colors of our casual Las Vegas wedding of Red/Black/White and Silver.

I used this beautiful sketch from Page Maps:

There is an awesome prize this month over at Lasting Memories and I was told that I can link up my project and be eligible for the Stampin' Up goodies.  Why don't you create something this week that makes you happy (how easy is that?), link up and you just might win some new goodies.  And who doesn't love new goodies? Speaking of new goodies....I am also linking this up to the Clique Kits June Challenge.  They are offering a $25 gift card to the winner.....more new goodies!!  You can see the details HERE

Tickled Pink

I LOVE Flamingos!  Not only because I live in Florida where they have always been a kitchy symbol of the Sunshine State but just because they are graceful, beautiful and well....they are PINK.  What's not to love about a pink bird?  So I have a real weakness these days for anything flamingo and I am tickled pink (pun intended) that flamingos also happen to be fairly trendy right now.  When I saw this stamp set from My Favorite Things, I had to buy it.  It has a bunch of awesome sentiments to use with some of my flamingo stamps that I have been collecting over the years and flamingo paper products.  Here I teamed up one of the sentiments with a darling little flamingo tag.  I think it will make a great birthday card for my husband's teenage niece.  I used this perfect sketch from My Favorite Things for the card and I am entering it in their sketch challenge HERE.
