Joy Ride

This weekend I actually scrapped this picture twice.  This is my grandson Jacob, riding his cousin Abby (my granddaughter) to church one Sunday morning 4 years ago on his bike.  How sweet was that?? I just had to document that moment for both of them in their scrapbooks.  Hence the reason for scrapping this picture.  If you look at the blog post I did a little earlier today you will see the girlie page with this picture that I did for Abby's scrapbook.  This page is more masculine and it is for Jacob's book.  I used older stash from My Mind's Eye (I had the drawer open with all my MME stash this weekend and made three pages with some of the awesome papers I have been hoarding.)  I love shopping my stash....don't you?  I also used this inspiring sketch from Sketches in Thyme and I am entering it into their sketch challenge.  It closes at midnight tonight and I am just getting this page entered in the nick of time.

Well, that is about it for today.  I hope your Monday is going well.

Let's Ride

I was a busy scrapper this weekend.  My room was renovated this month and out of commission for nearly 3 weeks so I really had the urge to create some pages this past rainy weekend.  I used this picture twice for two different pages that I did this weekend because it is a picture of my granddaughter and her cousin my oldest grandson Jacob.  I wanted to scrap this wonderful picture for both of their scrapbooks. This page above is for Abby's book.  I used some older My Mind's Eye papers and embellies and really love how it turned out.  The awesome sketch is from My Scraps and More:

I am entering their sketch challenge with this page and today is the deadline so I am just slipping this in under the wire.  Have a wonderful day and thanks for stopping by!

Cool Dudes

Having my creative space all freshly painted, new flooring, rearranged and reorganized has breathed new life into my desire to scrap.  It was a great deal of work to totally empty the room and my husband pretty much gave up 3 of his weekends but I am soooo happy we did it and an thrilled with the final result.  There is one more thing Dave wants to do....build me a stand up work table next weekend and when that is done I will share pictures here on my blog.

Here is the first of 3 layouts I completed today.  I cannot remember EVER completing 3 pages in one day.  I used My Mind's Eye Boy Crazy Papers and embellishments with Bella Blvd alphas.  Oh there is just a little Jillibean Soup thrown in as well.  I have such great stuff in my stash that I used all older stash today on all three projects.  The sketch is from Boys Rule Scrapbook Kits:

There is still a short time for you to enter their sketch challenges.  Just upload HERE before midnight tomorrow night.

Thanks for stopping by...hope your weekend was as good as mine.

Fun in the Sunshine

We are having a very rainy weekend here in the Florida as the remnants of Tropical Storm Ericka passes by.  It is the perfect time to do some crafting in my newly renovated craft space.  I used this sketch from Boys Rule Scrapbook Kits:

Laura Whitaker creates the BEST sketches for boy pages. I am glad I had the time to work with this one.  In fact this morning I was able to use the other sketch for Boys Rule so I will be sharing that shortly.

Thanks for stopping by.

Back to School -- Second Grade

I am almost completely moved back into my newly renovated creative place and I absolutely love creating in there. It is so clean and pretty and inspiring.  Last night after a long week of working I felt like scrapping a brand new picture of my granddaughter Abby on her first day of second grade this past week.

I used this Sketchy Friday sketch from Scrap Much?

I am entering it in their sketch challenge.

I am also entering this page in Clique Kits August Anything Goes challenge
and linking up to the current issue of Paper Issues...You Rule the School

Thanks for stopping by....I think I hear my creative place calling my name again so maybe I will have another project to share later today.

Snappy Birthday

I recently bought a stamp set by Newton's Nook that I could not wait to use.  My family is definitely heavy on the male population.  Therefore, I make a number of masculine cards.  These stamps are a perfect fit for me especially living on the east coast of Florida where sharks are abundant.

I found this card  during the Newton Nook's  reveal week (aptly named "Shark Week" and coinciding with Shark Week last July on cable tv)

I scraplifted my card from Lydia's design and wanted to give her the credit for inspiring me.  Isn't her card lovely?  And I LOVE her staging for the photo also.

I used this sketch from My Favorite Things:

And I am entering it into their sketch challenge #243.  You can get all the details HERE

I am also entering this card in the Simon Says Stamps Wednesday Anything Goes challenge.

Well, I have a very busy Saturday....you have yourself a wonderful weekend and thank you for taking time out of your weekend to stop in here and check out my blog.

Snow Much Fun

I have had this picture of my granddaughter sitting on my desk for ages it seems and I finally found a sketch to use.  I used this PageMaps sketch:

I just love this colorful and happy Doodlebug paper also.  I am entering this sketch at Clique Kits August Anything Goes challenge.

Thanks for stopping by to check out my blog.

Let's Eat Cake

This is the first project that I have been able to complete in my newly renovated creative place.  I just love my new space and the best part is right now it is perfectly clean, neat and organized.  I am going to attempt to keep it that way but well, I get messy sometimes.....VERY messy!!

I used the sketch from My Favorite Things for this shaker card.  I just turned it on its side:

Thanks for stopping by....Monday is over....bring on Tuesday!

Yo Yo Yo

From the moment that these Tim Holtz Bird Crazy stamps came out, I wanted them.  I am bird mama to 3 tropical birds myself and several of these stamps remind me of my own pet birds.  Plus I just love fun and funky images and sentiments as well.  That is why I paired this bird with sentiments from Snarky Stamps.  I think I will be sending this card to my youngest son who somehow is turning 34 in a couple of weeks.  How did he get to be that old?  Where has the time gone?

I used this sketch from Freshly Made Sketches and am entering it in their 200th sketch challenge.  How awesome is that?  And what a milestone!

That's it for now....thank you for stopping by.  I will be back with another blog post in the morning.

Cedar Key

I have been working on my April pocket pages this week and reliving all the good times we had a couple of months ago.  One of the highlights this year was the weekend trip we took to celebrate my husband Dave's birthday.  I used a lot of my Cocoa Daisy Day in the Life Kit...I love my Cocoa Daisy subscriptions!
I am entering this page in Clique Kits August anything goes challenge and in the current issue at Paper Issues -- Pocket-Book with Paper Issues.

Thanks for stopping by....hope your weekend is as blissful as mine.

March Pocket Pages --Party Time!

Who doesn't love a party?  I know I sure do -- especially when it is my granddaughter Abby's 7th and golden birthday this past March.  Dave and I flew up to Chicago just for the occasion and we had a blast.  I recently got to remember it all as I put together my March pocket pages.

This year I am documenting monthly instead of weekly.  I do not limit myself on the number of pages a month can contain.  March was a particularly busy month so I think I ended up having 7 or 8 pages.  Some months if it has been a quiet month I might only have 2 or 3 pages.  After all, it is just Dave and I and just how many pictures of our commute to work or food we ate can you do?  This is my 3rd year of documenting our life on pocket pages and I really like it better than doing a weekly spread.  But the beauty of this hobby is that there are no rules and I can do whatever works for me.  I like that...a lot.  I wish there were no rules in other areas of my life, too.  LOL

In addition to the birthday party,  we also attended a Chicago Blackhawks game which I documented as well. I am linking these pages up to the current issue of Paper Issues -- Pocket-Book With Style.  You can see the details HERE and the winner gets a gift card to the awesome Paper Issue shop.  With all the new goodies coming out, that is a fabulous and fun prize.  So link up and maybe you or I will win!

Viva La Verve August sketch #1

I currently am an artist without a studio as my creative place (formerly know as my scraproom) is undergoing a major remodel.  It was going to just be new paint and a new floor but like most home renovating projects tend to do, this has grown into a BIG project.  When it is done it will be so worth it but right now it is very difficult to do anything creative.  I am working at the kitchen table and it took me nearly 2 hours to make this card last night because I had to go hunting for nearly EVERYTHING.  I have a number of birthdays coming up in September and unfortunately they may get store bought cards this year.  :(

I used Verve stamps for the sentiment and the flower and this awesome sketch from Viva La Verve:

Thanks for stopping by tonight.

Happy Birthday You Party Animal

My scraproom is out of commission this month as my husband and I completely redecorate and reorganize it.  I had to totally empty it out last weekend and let me tell you....that was a big job.  The worst part was that my husband now saw just exactly how much stuff I have.  He is firmly convinced I never need anything else EVER except maybe adhesive.  And he might be right except there is a constant influx of new pretty paper and awesome stamps and wonderful tools.  As you can tell, I am hooked on my papercrafting hobby and I am fortunate that I have a man who totally supports and encourages my passion.

So last night I found myself at the kitchen table making this card for my niece in Michigan who's birthday is next week.  This card and a gift card for Target will be heading up there soon.  I used an Avery Elle stamp and die and this awesome sketch from Corri Garza for Paper Issues:

I am entering this card in the Seize the Birthday Anything Goes challenge.

Hey! Tomorrow is Friday!  I'm excited, are you??

Happy Birthday Izzy

My darling granddaughter, Izzy is turning 4 this week and I wanted to make her a cute card.  I stamped this adorable Verve elephant stamp and used a couple of Project Life journaling cards from the Blush core kit.  It went together pretty easy and I really like how it turned out.  I used this card sketch from Mojo Mondays:

This card and some Shopkins (which apparently is the hot toy in Izzy and Abby's circle of friends these days) will be on their way up to the Midwest just in time for this very special little girl's birthday.  And you should here her giggle...it is the sweetest sound you would ever want to hear.  I just wish I was there to give it to her in person.

Thanks for stopping by.

Wishing You Love and Laughter

August is a wonderful month for a birthday and we have a few birthdays in our family to celebrate in August.  In addition to mine, there is my granddaughter Izzy and my daughter-in-law Amy.  I made this card for Amy.  I used a 3x4 and a 4x6 journaling card from one of the many Project Life core kits I own.  They are the perfect shortcut to use on a card and I am needing crafting shortcuts.  Right now, my scraproom looks like this:

My husband re-painted it yesterday and is going to install a wood floor next weekend.  So I am out of commission for awhile.  I brought a few items out to the dining area to be able to work on things but I have to improvise and work with whatever I have available.

I used this sketch from Mojo Mondays:

They have the best sketches and always inspire me.  And this week is prize week...you have just a few more hours to link up a creation.  I am actually going to link one more card up if I get a chance to blog again today.

Thanks for stopping by today.

Creative Chick's Blogaversary Celebration

This is my second entry in Jenn Shuirkus' Blogaversary challenge.  Her challenge to us is to find one of her cards and CAS it (copy it).  Well Jenn has so many fabulous cards that inspire me, I could go on for months CAS-ing her cards.  I found this card on her blog and decided to recreate it for my husband's nephew who is celebrating his 18th birthday this week. Here is Jenn's card:

And here is my take on it:

I recently won some of the new Illustrated Faith collection from Bella Blvd and I used the yellow patterned paper and the "splattered" overlay from my winning for this card.  If you would like to see a tutorial on how Jenn put her card together you can check out her blog HERE

There is still time to enter her challenge....you can see all the information on the challenge by going to THIS blogpost.

I am also entering this card in the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Anything Goes challenge.

Thanks for stopping in.

Wish Big

My amazing mother-in-law turned 72 yesterday and like me she loves the color purple so I decided to use that color on the card I made her.  I also used my brand new large brush stroke sentiment set from My Favorite Things and this sketch of theirs:
I fussy cut the large bloom from some patterned paper that had been in my stash FOREVER.  I added a thick coat of glossy accents on the flower along with a couple of punched butterflies. Glittered paper from DCWV and some faux stitching finished off the card.

I am entering it in Sketch Challenge #239 at My Favorite Things card challenge blog. The challenge closes tomorrow at noon Eastern time so if you hurry, you still have time to enter.  You can see all the details HERE

Thanks for stopping by tonight.

Wishing You a Sweet Christmas

Even though it is no longer July, I am still sharing some of my Christmas cards.  I might keep making them for awhile.  I got 23 made in the month of July which is an awesome sccomplishment with my work/commuting schedule but I need approximately 75 Christmas card to send out each year.  So, you may still see some Christmas card shared here. For this one I used Verve's July week #3 sketch from their Viva La Verve sketch challenge site:

There is still time to enter....I woul dlove to see you enter.  Thanks by stopping by and have a wonderful and productive week this week.

Boatload of Christmas Blessings

I am a big fan of Jenn Shurkus.  Her creativity really inspires me.  She was celebrating her 10th blogiversary during the month of July and had the coolest challenge going on that I just had to take part in.  She wanted us to pick one of her recent cards to CASE and post it on her blog.  There are loads of fun and fabulous prizes but I am most excited by scraplifting a couple of her cards.

I live in Florida and I love nautical themes and elements year round and have even before nautical/beachy was trendy.  So when I saw this card of hers I knew I was going to recreate it.

I love the image being on the large die cut banner and the hemp cord.  I decided to create a
Christmas card since I am still in the Christmas in July mode and have all my Christmas supplies out in my creative space.  I use a never before inked image and sentiment from a Newton's Nook stamp set (Sea-sons Greetings).

I wish I could have recreated that watercolored cloud filled sky on Jenn's card but I had to cheat and us Bella Blvd cloud print paper.  If you want to CAS one of Jenn's cards and enter, there is still time.  you can see all the details by going to her BLOG

I am also entering this card in Merry Monday's #167 Hearts challenge

and
Simon Says Stamps Wednesday Anything Goes Challenge

Thank you for stopping by to check out my card and happy Sunday to you!
