Keep Your Fin Up!

My husband and I work together and we have a co-worker who is battling cancer. I wanted to design a masculine encouragement card that would not make light of his situation but one that would also make him smile. I paired up this sentiment from Reverse Confetti's Mermaids Kisses stamp set with the shark paper from an older Bella Blvd collection....Max. And I think it works well.  I even decorated the inside of the card which I rarely do.....

Thank you for coming by my blog.

A Night To Forget

Last September, the night before I had my breast cancer surgery, my hubby took me to one of our favorite places in Central Florida -- Universal City Walk.  It was the perfect diversion from the uncertainty of the next day. My husband took some awesome pictures that evening and I wanted to document the night. This 2 page layout from Let's Scrap was perfect:

I am entering it in their sketch challenge and getting my entry right in under the wire. I am also entering it in the Clique Kits February Anything Goes Challenge

Thanks for stopping by my blog....have a wonderful week.

Wake Up & Be Awesome

I love to create coffee themed card and I am in a group where we swap coffee themed cards every month....I love making and sending mine out and I especially love receiving one every month. This month I was a little late in getting my card created and mailed. I think it will arrive at it's destination before the end of the month. I used this awesome sketch from Kerry Urbatch:

I am entering this card in the Coffee Loving Cardmakers sketch challenge.
I am also entering it in the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Anything Goes Challenge.

Than you for stopping by my humble little blog....have an amazing week.

First I Do the Coffee....

I make no secret (or apologies) for my addiction to coffee. I love it. And I love to use it as a theme in my card making. I am not alone....there are a great many of us Coffee Lovin' Cardmakers. In fact there is a blog for us and I used one of the Sunday Sip and Share sketches from the fabulous Kerry Urbatch for this card:

I am entering this card in the sketch challenge at CLC
and also in the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Anything Goes Challenge.

Thanks for stopping by....have a delightful weekend.

Paintball Warriors

I found an older photo of my oldest grandson and youngest son playing paintball several years ago.  Jacob is now 15 years old and like most teenage boys, he does not like having his picture taken anymore. I desperately need to fill his scrapbook so it is even somewhat close to as full as his younger brother's album so I was really happy to come across this photo.

I used this sketch from DCWV:

I am entering this page in their February Stack-a-Holic sketch challenge. All the papers are from the Guy Stack. I used the leftover papers on the birthday card I made for my dad.  You can see that card HERE

Thanks for stopping by....there is still a few days left if you want to join me in the DCWV sketch challenges. I will be back tomorrow with a coffee themed card....my favorite current trend.

85!!

My Dad is turning 85 the end of this week. Isn't that amazing? He just recently moved down here to Florida from Denver to be closer to us. He built a beautiful new home and we have been helping him get all moved in and unpacked. But this weekend we will be celebrating instead of unpacking moving boxes. I made him this card.  I used this awesome sketch from Freshly Made Sketches which DCWV is featuring for their February Stack-Aholic challenge

I actually made this card from the paper leftovers from a layout that I will be sharing with you tomorrow so please come back and check it out.  I rather like it. I am also entering this card in the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Anything Goes Challenge.

Thank you for stopping by my blog. I will be back with another post tomorrow.

Uncle Adam Rocks

Last fall, my son Adam kept my son Matt's girls over night.  The girls love going over to their uncle's house and hanging out with their cousins and seeing their grandfather and Uncle Adam is a lot of fun. I was thrilled when Adam posted this picture. Living 1000 miles away from family I am dependent on social media for most of my material to scrap.

I used this sketch from Clique Kits and entered their February challenge.

Well that is about it for tonight...it is Monday and I am pretty worn out on Monday evenings.  But I will be back tomorrow with a card to share. Thanks for stopping by.

She is Fierce -- February Sistahood Blog Hop

It is the 17th of the month and you know what that means....it is time for your monthly reminder to do a breast self exam and if you are due, make the appointment for your annual mammogram.  Remind you friends, mothers, sisters and co-workers also. It could save a life.  My routine screening mammogram and this blog hop saved my life. For reals.....you can read the whole story HERE

It also means that iit is time for the CAS-ual Fridays Calling All Sistahs Blog Hop. I made a card to send to a newly diagnosed friend. Do you know that in the US breast cancer strikes 1 out of every 8 women?  Several of us on this blog hop have been one of those 1 in 8 and all of us know someone who has been touched with this horrible disease. Here is my card:

I used a sentiment from The Calling All Sistahs Collection ....this set is called Word Ribbon.  The sequins are a special mix from Pretty Pink Posh mixed exclusively for CAS-ual Fridays and they are gorgeous. Michele, the owner of CAS-ual Fridays and herself a breast cancer survivor donates a portion of the profits on all the products in this collection to breast cancer research.  You can see all the stamps and products in the Calling All Sistahs Collection HERE

If you are on this blog hop you came from the fabulous blog of Melissa Miller and the next stop on this inspirational hop is the extremely talented Shona Chambers from down under in New Zealand. Wait until you see her card....it will knock your socks off! Be sure to comment on all our blogs because two randomly chosen commenters will receive a $15 shopping credit to the CAS-ual Fridays store. Please comment by February 19th.

Thanks for stopping by and remember to check yourselves and get 'em squeezed!

Have a Fintastic Birthday

I just recently got this awesome Newton's Nook mermaid stamp set and used it tonight to make a birthday card for a good friend back in the Midwest. I sure hope the USPS can get it to her on time...I procrastinated a day or two too long. I also used this fun sketch from Newton's Nook:

I am linking it up to the Inky Paws Challenge
and
also to the Simon Says Stamp Monday Use Your Favorite Tool Challenge....my favorite tool is my good old fashioned Cutterbee scissors.  I love to fussy cut. I fussy cut the mermaid image on this card after stamping and coloring her.

Thanks for stopping by....be sure to stop by on Friday for a very special blog hop that I am participating in.

Hoppy Valentine's Day!

I decided to make one last Valentine....this one is for my cousin Colleen.  As a single woman she was lamenting that she never gets any Valentine's Day cards. I wanted to make her feel loved so I colored this digital bunny and used this sketch from Sugar Pea Designs:

And this card is on it's way to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. I think it should have arrived today or right on time tomorrow for Valentine's Day. Everyone should feel loved on February 14th, right?

That is it for tonight....Mondays are not my favorite day of the week and I am exhausted so I am going to hit the sheets and catch up with ya'll later this week.  Thanks for stopping by my blog.

Valentine Tag

I am sharing a tag that I made for a Valentine gift swap that I am in with a small group of crafty friends. I know that she likes coffee as much as I do so in addition to some papercrafting gifts, there are a few coffee themed gifts also. It was so much fun to put together.  I don't know what is more fun....putting together a fun gift like this or receiving one .

I used this sketch from Your Next Stamp:

I just flipped it and put that sweet little girl on the left in an oval instead of a rectangle. That sweet coffee lover is one of my favorite stamps from Your Next Stamp and is called Ellie Loves Lattes.
I am entering this tag in the sketch challenge you can see HERE
and
I am also entering this tag in the Simon Say Stamp's Wednesday CUTE challenge

Well we made it through hump day...only 2 more work days left in my week. Thank you for popping in.

I'm Stuck On You

I decided to make a Valentine's Day card with a non-traditional color theme and I think it turned out really cute! Who says Valentine's Day card have to be red or pink? For this card I used the February card sketch from Stick It Down:

I am entering this card in the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Color of Love Challenge in addition to the sketch challenge at Stick It Down.

That's a wrap for Tuesday. I will be back tomorrow with a cute little Valentine's Day themed tag.
Until then....have a wonderful evening and Wednesday.

Love Is.....

I love this picture my son Adam posted with his son and my grandson Cole. They are truly best buds. I saw a very inspiring challenge on the Freckled Fawn blog this week to use this sketch:

Part of the challenge is also to use some Freckled Fawn embellishments as journaling bullets.
I knew immediately that this photo was perfect for this challenge. I dug up some awesome Kaisercraft paper and went to town. I recently got those awesome Freckled Fawn white puffy hearts in a Scrapbook Circle embellishment grab bag and they were perfect for this challenge. There is still plenty of time to play along.  Check out all the details HERE.

That's it for Saturday night.  I have a sweet card to share with you tomorrow so I hope you will come back for another visit soon.

Dabbin' at Disney

Just another page or two and the Florida album is done for my son and grandsons. It contains 20+ 12x12 layouts of their trip down here to Florida last summer and there is enough room to add more pages to the album from their next trip. Fingers crossed that they are able to come down again this summer.....we had an awesome time last year. Cole, the 10 year old, is featured on this page with my hubby Dave.  Cole is sooo outgoing and fun....he had us all amused by dancin' while we waited for the tram to pick us up at Disney Studios and take us back to our car after a L-O-N-G but fun day.
 I love his Mickey hands.

I used this sketch from the January challenge at Clique Kits. The sketch was optional but I always love Kristine's sketches so I wanted to use it.

The challenge is to get inky and I inked the edges of my yellow circle and the edges of the light blue banner on the left hand side of the page. I love how inking the edges really makes the shapes pop against the polka dot background.

I am also entering this page in Scrap Our Stash February Tic Tac Toe Stash Challenge

I went diagonally and used the color red, hearts and a mixed alpha title. This was a really fun challenge!

Well, happy Friday...I am just getting over a cold and my hubby seems to have caught my cold so it looks like a quiet weekend home resting, recovering and playing with paper.
