The Paper Variety Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge

Who didn't LOVE to play tic-tac-toe as a kid?  I sure loved to and this week we invite you to play tic-tac-toe with The Paper Variety.  I went straight down the middle on this grid:

and I created this page

I made a multi-photo layout with a water theme and added a banner.  I used the  awesome July 14th sketch from Sassy Lil' Sketches.  I love the way their sketches inspire me.

We have an awesome prize for you this week....

and you could use it towards your purchase of this awesome August kit

So what are you waiting for?  Jump in and join us in this challenge.  Let our tic-tac-toe board inspire you this week. I also entered this layout over at Paper Issues Make a Splash challenge.

Another card and my last post this weekend!

A few days ago I shared a layout of  my grandson Cole praying called Believe.  I entered that page over at the Monochromatic challenge at Scrapbookers Anonymous.  There is an additional challenge over there to make a card from the scraps of the layout.  That is exactly what I did with this birthday card for my husband's nephew Dakota.  I struggle with masculine cards...especially teenage boys but I think I got this one right.

It has been a busy crafty weekend....too bad the weekend is over and it's back to work tomorrow.  I hope I have inspired you to make something this week and enter a challenge or too.  But be careful...it's highly addictive!!

Grid pattern Christmas card

I am so excited to be on The Paper Variety design team and even on my week off I love to enter the challenges.  The ideas really spark my imagination and the DT projects are always an inspiration to me.  Not to mention the prizes...the awesome prizes!  This week's challenge is to create a project with a grid pattern or to use every color of the rainbow.  I chose to go with a grid design for my Christmas card of the day.  I love the clean and simple design so I think not only will I enter it at The Paper Variety but also at Wee Memories Clean and Simple challenge this week as well.

H2-OH!

I have had a great time being creative this weekend.  This 2 page layout is what I accomplished this afternoon.  My grandchildren got to spend some time together over the weekend of the Fourth of July and played in the sprinkler. Fancy Pants Rusted Sun collection was perfect for these pages.  I even used a TON of rub-ons (with no casualities) and even used some transperencies which I really like.

I also wound some twine around the corrugated letters just to make them more fun and also to qualify for the twine challenge at Scrappin' and Chattin' this month.  I am entering this layout in the Fancy Pants challenge over at Let's Scrap and used their sketch from 4-13-11. I am also entering it over at Lasting Memories for the "It's All About the Title" challenge
Here is a look at each page separately....

 and

I know the kids had fun playing with their cousins and I sure had fun preserving the memories of the day for them.

Bring On the Sun

I used this awesome sketch 7.21 from Sketchy Thursday this week for the above layout.  There is still time for you to enter to win an awesome prize over there.

The wonderful picture was taken by my in-house photographer/husband Dave at dawn one morning down at our very own hometown Flagler Beach pier.  I am also entering it in the Sketches in Thyme open challenge this week and the Paper Cutz anything goes challenge.  Why not join me in some of these challenges?  The more the merrier!

Here's the Rub (on)

One of my favorite card challenge sites that I just came upon recently is CAS-ual Fridays .  Their challenge this week is to make a clean and simple card and use stickers or rub-ons.  I used stickers on this card from Lily Bee Design....the banner pieces and the sentiment are all stickers.  Sure made this card a quick and easy one.  As you can tell I am still working on Christmas cards....I will probably be working on them all summer.....but what a better time than during the lazy days or summer?  Sure beats trying to make them during the crazy days of December!

believe

Recently my son Adam posted on Facebook that his 5 year old son Cole when asked to say grace for meals always closes his prayer with a request from God for super powers.  I would love to hope that my sons and grandchildren will always believe for the seemingly impossible.  Things only are impossible if no one believes that they are possible.

Most of my layouts are bright and beachy but I was inspired to dig through some of my stash for a rarely used color combo by the challenge this month over at Scrapbookers Anonymous.  Check it out, link it up and you could win an great prize pack from Nikki Sivils.  I used this sketch from Sketchy Thursday and really grunged it up to match the rugged personality that Cole has.

The Paper Variety Photo Inspiration Challenge

The challenge this week at The Paper Variety is this photo inspiration challenge.  How does this photo inspire you?  Maybe the colors of the puzzle pieces or the black and white stripes of the boy's shirt provide inspiration for your paper project?  Maybe the boy's glasses or a book theme?  I jumped off at the book theme and used the title of a wonderful book that my husband gave me last Christmas for the title of my layout..."The Lucky One"

I used the great sketch over at Artful Delight this month and Echo Park's collection "Country Drive" for this layout.  I just LOVE Echo Park and usually order their collections online.  Well one recent Saturday Dave told me he would take me to my favorite scrapbook store in Orlando (90 minutes away),  I called ahead of time and they had one collection of "Country Drive" left and they saved it for me.  While we were in Orlando we also stopped at our favorite Chicago stuffed pizza joint...Giordano's....so Dave got some enjoyment out of the day as well.  We have been married for over 8 years now and I still get weak-kneed sometimes when I look at him.  Yes, I am "The Lucky One"

So how does this photo inspire you?  Enter over at The Paper Variety this week and look at what you might win:

Nikki Sivils Beatrice Collection!!!!

I am really excited to be part of this awesome design team this term and if you have read all the way through to the end of this post, I commend you.  You deserve a prize so leave me a comment and on Tuesday night July 19th I will choose a winner of some awesome blog candy.

Happy Holidays

I am still making Christmas cards.  CAS-ual Friday has a challenge this week to make a clean and simple shaped card so I made this ornament shaped card.  Of course I will enter it over at The Paper Variety Christmas in July challenge because this week only you can enter an unlimited number of entries.  Woo-hoo I think I am on my 5th or 6th entry over there.  I am in a challenge to make a Christmas card a day for 31 days this month and by golly I am going to do it!

No Frowny Faces

Two years ago when Adam and his boys were down here visiting us in Florida, 3 (nearly 4) year old Cole was at a stage where he did not like to have his picture taken.  Well that is just NOT acceptable for the grandson of a scrapbooker!!  Adam was doing some self portraits of him and Cole in the backseat when we were on our way to Gatorland and these photos just screamed out to me this week to be scrapped.  They were perfect for sketch #227 over at Sketch Inspiration.  I used this sketch but I just flipped it on it's side:

Endless Summer

About 10 years ago I knew someone who was moving to Florida from the Midwest.  He said he wanted "Endless Summer" in his life.  That always stuck with me and four years ago my husband and I had the opportunity to transfer to Florida with the company that we work with.  We love the sunshine and warm (spell that H-O-T) weather here.  I can even put up with the humidity now although my hair does not like it as much.  I don't even try to wear my hair straight this time of year and just give it over to it's natural curl.  My dear friend Marti took the picture that I used on this page of Dave and I when she was visiting us last fall.  We were sitting on the upper deck of one of our favorite beach shacks in Flagler Beach waiting to eat fish tacos. I used Sketch Inspiration's sketch #225 for my layout and Echo Park's Little Boy collection.  Doesn't this page just make you want to come down here for a visit????

Homespun Christmas

When it comes to style I'm a little bit country and Dave is a little bit rock and roll.  So we have compromised in our home decor and gone for a light and bright beachy theme.  But I still love all things country cozy.  This card reflects that and I am very pleased with the way it turned out.  I stamped the sentiment right on the patterned paper, tied some bakers twine around it and adhered it to my card.  Then I added the faux stitching and called it done. This is another card for entry in The Paper Variety Christmas in July challenge.

Another Christmas Card

Here is another card that I have made this week for the Christmas In July challenge over at The Paper Variety and the 31 day challenge from Scrappin'-n-Chattin'.  I love using non-traditional Christmas colors when making my cards.  What do you think?
