Bo Bunny Card sketch challenge -- You Rock!

I love bright graphic whimsical patterns and colors which is why I was drawn to Bo
Bunny's Ad Lib collection and decided to use it for this card and envelope.  The stamp set is my newest and it is from Paper and Such and called the Bitty Love collection.  Isn't it adorable?

I know I will get a great deal of use out of it as I have 2 grandchildren who are already school age with my 4 year old granddaughter quickly approaching kindergarten.  I used Bo Bunny's card sketch:
Well I have a busy weekend ahead of me finishing up Easter cards and crafts.  With my grandchildren out of town, I need to get everything mailed on Monday.  I am sure I will be back with more to share later today and/or tomorrow.

Lucky in Love

I love my husband.  He keeps me grounded and calm and has an incredible talent to make me laugh. He is strong and wise and kind (and very tolerant of my love of pretty paper) but enough of all that.  I also really dig this picture of us taken by Dave's brother while we were visiting them in Raleigh last December.  Most of the pictures of Dave and I are self-portraits and it is nice to have one from a different perspective.

I used my new Authentiqe collection "Loyal" for this layout as well as this sketch of theirs:

Great sketch, huh?  Why don't you try your hand at it too?  Just use Authentique product and upload by March 31 for your chance at a cool prize.  You can see the details HERE.

I am also entering my layout in Lasting Memories How Do You Layer Up? challenge.  I layered my banner and I layered a sticker on top of my rosette.  I so admire those layered projects but for me it is a hard thing to pull off.

Fun Times -- Abby turns 4

I know I already did a layout of Abby's birthday but I just couldn't resist a page with pictures from both of her celebrations.  I was inspired by the 200th sketch from Creative Scrappers:

I put my banner on the bottom of my page and loved adding those spatters from my new Tim Holtz distress stain.  I love the sketches over there and do not get to participate as often as I would like.  Congratulations Kristine on over 200 inspirational sketches.

I am also entering this page in Frosted Designs grid design challenge....there is still plenty of time to enter this challenge.  Check out the details HERE.

Guitar Man

For the first several years of our nearly 9 year marriage, my husband Dave showed no interest in his 3-4 guitars that he owned.  Most of them were stowed in their cases in his closet.  I often mentioned to him that I would like to hear him play and even bought him a cool Dean flying V acoustic.  It wasn't until a couple of years ago that his interest in his music was renewed and the guitars came out of mothballs.  He really is quite good and I love watching him practice and hear him play.  Last night while we were watching the Chicago Bulls game, he was strumming out a Joe Satriani tune on his acoustic.  I took this picture recently from across the room while he was practicing and liked it so much I wanted to scrap it. I hand cut the guitar at the top of the page since I do not have a die-cutting machine.  The background paper is from Echo Park.  I just used scraps from my scrap bin for the rest of the paper. I think the guitar paper is from an older My Mind's Eye collection.  I also used my new Amy Tangerine orange chevron mix tape.

I used this Page Maps sketch from their March Imaginisce sketch contest:

The prize is the new collection from Imaginisce called "Makin' Waves"....living in Florida, that is a must have collection!

I am also entering my page in The Burlaps and Buttercups No Kid's Allowed challenge.

Spring Favorites card

Spring does not last long here in Florida but I enjoy it while it lasts.   I love the mild temps and all the flowers and freshness spring has and love...isn't love a wonderful thing in the spring?

I made an Easter card today to enter into a few challenges.  First off is the Glue Arts /Tsukineko challenge on the Glue Arts blog.  I used my favorite ink pad to stamp the "Happy Easter" sentiment -- Memento's Tuxedo Black ink pad by Tsukineko. It stamps so even and crisply. I also LOVE their little finger tip daubers.

I also am entering this card in the Lawnscaping inspiration challenge.  I was inspired by the chevron background on this card created by Lawnscaping design team member Lynette:

I really need to get a chevron background stamp (I have the one by Lawn Fawn on my wish list) but since I didn't have one I used a chevron patterned paper from the American Crafts Amy Tangerine collection.  I don't know about you but I am all about chevrons right now....I even bought a cool top today with a brown and turquoise chevron pattern.

Abby & Izzy

I love this picture of my beautiful granddaughters because it isn't perfect.  Abby's hair is a mess and her eyes are a little red from crying (she did NOT want to have her picture taken).  Izzy has her hand up by her mouth.  But this was the best photo from what my DIL calls the photo shoot from hell. And I love it because life isn't perfect.  Children do not always cooperate and the sun doesn't always shine in a cloudless blue sky. But to me this photo is PERFECT.   I don't know about you, but when I get a very special photo I am nervous about scrapping it.  I want to make sure I do the photo justice.  So what I did with this layout is I collected several of my favoite things over the last several weeks to use on here.  Included is the awesome stitched sheet of background paper from the Amy Tangerine collection of American Crafts.  I also love those stitched fabric Thickers from American Crafts.  I used tape on a project for the first time too....that is American Crafts Amy Tangerine Mix Tape and I love it.  And it is repositionable....gotta love that, huh?

The felt flowers and circles with the sewing pattern butterflies are from my favorite Etsy shop....Precocious Paper.  Tessa Buys has the most incredible embellishments.  Here is my recent haul from her shop (some I bought and some I won):

And she takes special orders...those chocolate brown felt roses on my layout were custom made for me.  I knew I would be doing this layout and wanted some special touches.  You can check out her shop HERE and tell her Sandi sent you.  And no, I am not on her payroll.  I am just a happy customer.

Anyway I used this sketch (that my friend Abby created) from Artful Delight as inspiration:

You still have a few more days to enter a layout inspired by this sketch.  Just go HERE for details.

Get Well Geri!

My sister had surgery last week and is now on the mend.  She lives in Indiana and I wanted to make a card to send her to cheer her up.  I used this sketch from Frosted Designs:

I was inspired by this photo over at the Tuesday Trigger at Moxie Fab World:

I pulled the pink, white and cream colors from the photo and added a tulip to my card as well after seeing the pretty bouquet in the photo.

I am also entering it in the following challenge:

Happy St. Paddy's Day

I sent each of my grandchildren (except lil' Izzy who is only 7 months old) a Bag o' Green for St. Paddy's Day.  Everything in the bag was green.  The boys also got a few dollar bills in theirs as well.  Here are a few of the cards I made that I haven't shared yet:

I hope everyone is having a wonderful, fun day.  Since we were out and about all day, we had Mexican for dinner (the restaurant was empty...lol) and are having our corned beef, potatoes, carrots and cabbage dinner tomorrow.  So I guess we are having a St. Paddy's weekend!

A Bit o' Green

I just love this card I made for a friend of my dad's who recently did something very kind for him and I wanted to thank her.  I must admit after making this cutie, I had a hard time sending it out.  I used Echo Park's Country Drive collection and I am entering it over at Simon Says Stamp A Bit o' Green challenge.

For my project I followed the sketch and added numbered journaling:

My grandson Jacob is 10 years old (what an awesome age!) and I thought I would document his faves at this age.  When I asked him his favorite movie at first, after thinking about it for some time he answered "Soylent Green"....REALLY???? Soylent Green?  I think he had just watched it with his sci-fi loving grandpa and couldn't think of anything else.  A few minutes after hanging up however he texted me and told me he was mistaken...his fave movie was "Wimpy Kid -- Rodrick Rules".  Now that's more like it!  I used Echo Park's "A Boy's Life" collection for this page and sadly I have almost used up my whole collection.  I am seriously thinking of getting another pack.....you can win one just for commenting....lucky you!

Now hop on over to ScrapFIT to see how their team worked this Sketch Workout! Enter your layout at TPV and ScrapFIT for a chance to win prizes at both places!

CAS-ual Fridays Card

I love creating CAS (Clean and Simple) cards and the place I head to for inspiration is CAS-ual Fridays.  This week the challenge is to let the sentiment shine and I am sneaking in under the wire with this entry:

I made this card for my little granddaughter Isabelle's (or we call her Izzy) first St. Patrick's Day. I printed the sentiment on my computer and the pretty chevron paper is from Echo Park's collection -- Country Drive.

Blog Post Day #11

Today I want to share the first of my Easter cards featuring a fanfold butterfly that I made.  I got the idea from a post on Ideas for Scrapbookers by Nancy Keslin and I will be sharing a tutorial on how to make this cute little embellishment one day next week. I used this awesome versatile sketch again from the Lawnscaping blog:

I am still blogging every day and this is day #11....day #14 is in sight!  Root me on and leave me some love!

Celebrate 4!

My granddaughter Abby turned 4 last week and my son and daughter-in-law did good and took lots of pictures for me.  This is the first of a few layouts I will do to document the day.

A Walk Down Memory Lane is also celebrating their birthday and to celebrate they posted this awesome sketch by Lucy Chesna on their blog:

I used their sketch for my layout and substituted my four smaller pictures for the 2 larger ones in the sketch and had to move my journaling and title but I love the sketch and it worked so well for my layout.
Check out A Walk Down Memory Lane....they are having sales all month on all the latest paper and scrapping goodies.

I am also linking this layout up to Scrap The Girls March challenge to scrap a page documenting a celebration.

Doodlebug Transparency Card

My sweet niece Rachel's birthday is coming up and I wanted to make her a special card so I made her a fun transparency card using this Doodlebug card sketch:

Not only did I use their sketch I fussy cut the banner and balloons from a sheet of Doodlebug paper from their Cake & Ice Cream collection.  The purple cardstock is from the back side of the sheet of paper.  I used Doodlebug twine and their Loopy Lou letters.  I apologize for the glare on the photo....let me tell you it is not easy to photograph a transparency .  In some of the photos I snapped you cannot even tell the card is made on a transparency so I went with this photo. Doodlebug is now sponsoring sketch challenges on their blog and offering a collection of your choice if your entry is chosen as the winning entry.  The details can be found HERE.

I am also linking it up to the Simon Says Stamp Special Girl Challenge and finally to the Scrap and Cards Today Color Suite Challenge for February.  You can see the details HERE.  Here is the challenge:

I cannot believe that the weekend has sped by already and that tomorrow is Monday but it is.  I do have a cool project to share with you tomorrow so check back with me for day #10 of my Blog-a-thon.  I want to go at least 14 days and actually if I make that I am going to try to keep going and see how many days in a row I can blog.  Join me and leave some love...I love comments!
