Party Time!

When we go to Chicago to visit my sons and their families in a few weeks we are having a birthday party for the 3 of us having birthdays in August.  I will be turning 50-something, my beautiful daughter-in-law Amy will be turning 20 something and dear sweet lil' Izzy will be having her first birthday.  So right now I am in the process of making a few party invites with some awesome SRM stickers that I recently won.  These stickers are making this an easy process and look great on my cards.  On the inside of the card is a big sticker where I can fill in all the deets of the party....where, when, RSVP, etc. Super easy and I am all about that.

I used this awesome sketch from Basic Grey:

I also used papers from my 6x6 Life of the Party paper pad from Basic Grey.  The twine is Denim from the Twinery (another recent win), the toothpicks for the pennants from my kitchen (LOL) and the wooden button tied with floss is from my stash.

You're a Hoot!

It was so nice having yesterday off for the 4th of July and I actually got to get my scrap on in the middle of the week....woo hoo!  I decided to scrap one of the most recent pictures I have of my granddaughter Abby.  She is growing up so fast and is now 4 years old.  We are going up to Chicago to see her and the rest of the family in just a little over a month.  I am really excited.

I used the July sketch from Artful Delight for this layout.....I just turned it on it's side:

My friend Abby designed this sketch and it is awesome, don't you think?  The title and the owl on my layout were made and gifted to me by Abby as well.  I am very lucky to have such a generous and talented friend.  You can check out her blog HERE.   I also used Echo Park's This and That -- Beautiful collection.

Thanks for checking out my blog.

Favorite color card

Since I was a little girl my favorite color has always been purple.  When I came across the July 1st challenge at Go Fish to use my favorite color on a project I knew I would use purple.  Lately however I am really loving aqua and have bought many new clothing items in that color.  I even had polka dot aqua fingernails recently:

As much as I love aqua these days, purple will remain my favorite color which is why I used it when making this card:

I used this great sketch from my favorite card sketch challenge site Card Positioning Systems:

The sentiment is from Paper Smooches and the butterfly I stamped on vellum and heat embossed which was a new technique to me.  I love how it turned out.  The cardstock, patterned paper and the doily were all from my very large stash.

Happy 4th of July

Happy 4th of July everyone. I hope you are enjoying the day....I sure am.  It is a treat having a day off smack dab in the middle of a work week.  It would be even better if we did not have to go back to work Thursday or Friday but I am savoring being off today and have enjoyed every moment of it.

I wanted to share this layout of made with the rest of the military photos of my father-in-law that I recently printed out.  It is a companion layout to the one I mad a couple of weeks ago.  You can see that one HERE.  For this one I used a sketch from Sketch Inspiration and Authentique's new Glory collection.  I am entering it in the Unique Crafters Challenge #4 -- Patriotic.

Thanks for visiting my blog and have a happy and safe 4th of July.

Snorkeling Key Largo

Dave and I went snorkeling on our trip to the Keys a couple of months ago.  Actually I should say Dave went snorkeling and I attempted it.  Let's just say, that snorkeling is not for me.  I am not a confident swimmer, we were way out 6 miles offshore and the water was deep, cold and had a lot of fish and other things in it.  I got in and tried to snorkel, a fish swam past me and touched me, and I panicked.  Plus that snorkel and face mask made me feel VERY claustrophobic.  So I got back into the boat and watched Dave and took pictures.  But I still had a good time in spite of losing my beloved toe ring when I pulled off the flippers.

I used Imaginisce's new Makin' Waves collection for these pictures...it is a fun and happy collection and perfect for my snapshots.  They have a challenge going this month that I am entering this page in.....you can check out all the details HERE.

Celebrate.

I scrap totally out of order and deciding on what pictures I am going to use is a very random thing.  It depends on the colors of the pictures and papers I want to use and my mood among other things.  These pictures were from the night before our Vegas wedding 9+ years ago and I just now scrapped them.  But I love how everything came together for this page.  I used Basic Grey's new collection PB&J papers and the alphas for the title are from an older BG collection Nook & Pantry but they matched very well.  One of my favorite color combos is aqua and red.  I also used Paper Smooches "LOVE" sentiment stamp and heat embossed it on my journaling card and the flowers are from my favorite Etsy shop Precocious Paper.

I used this awesome sketch from Basic Grey:

He Loves Comics

My son Adam has loved comic books from the time he was about 6 or 7 years old.  He still loves them and has quite a collection amassed.  Now his sons share his love of comic books.  I wanted to document this picture of 10 year old Jacob lost in a graphic world of super heroes.  I used all older stash for this layout.  I almost squealed when I found the little comic book embellishment as it has Spiderman on the cover and a bunch of blank pages on which I wrote my journaling for this page.

I used this fabulous sketch from My Creative Sketches:
