Stuck on U Sketches PL Stickles Challenge

There is a new Project Life challenge up at Stuck on You Sketches and the challenge is to use Stickles on your project.  I never thought of adding a little bling to my pages by way of Stickles. (which is a glitter glue) But it really looks nice and adds just the right amount of bling.  I used it on my week #17 which began with Easter and ended with an awesome day trip to Tybee Island, Georgia.  I stickled the Thickers on my title card, the Easter bunny and flowers on the card next to my title card and the blue heart on my little travel trailer on the right hand page.

Here are close-ups of each page:

Link up a project and you could be eligible to win the monthly prize

I hop you will play along with us and remember, I am offering an extra prize to those of you who link up a project and come back here and leave me a comment that you did so.  I will chose a winner in 2 weeks July 13th.

Have fun this week and stay safe!!

Happy 49th Anniversary

My in-laws will be celebrating their 49th anniversary this coming week.  Isn't that amazing? So I wanted to make a special card for them to celebrate the occasion.  I was inspired by one of the DT cards and this sketch over at CAS(E) this Sketch:

Thanks for stopping by my blog....this is a shortened week for me with the holiday Friday.  Hope it is a good week for you also.

My Scrap Room

Teri Anderson over at Moxie Fab World asked to see our scrap spaces so I resisted the urge to clean it all up so it would look perfect for the photos.  The truth is, my room is a work room where I always have at least one project in the works.  I have been purging but I still have WAY too much stuff. I have a weakness for pretty things and paper, and stamps and dies and embellishments...lots of embellishments! LOL

So here it is -- the way it looked today as I was working on some pocket pages for week #21 (Yes, I am chronically behind) I was watching the Brazil vs. Chile World Cup match.

My husband and I used to collect shot glasses and dislpay them in these shelves.  The shot glasses are long gone but now they perfectly store my wooden rubber stamp collection keeping them in front of me so I can see them and remember to use them.

Here I have my working vintage typewriter that I often use for journaling.  I have other antique typewriters but this is the one that works.  My dream typewriter is a pink or turquoise one from the 60's.

I like to display some of my favorite pages and projects.  I just wish I could find more of the white scrapbook frames from Michael's.  They are VERY hard to come by.

Here you can see part of my vintage camera collection and the albums that are currently in progress on top of the hutch on my desk.  And you can see how messy I am when I work.

Here are SOME of my Thickers and a small part of my paper storage.  All my paper is stored in separate drawers by manufacturer....that is just the way it works best for me.  But I also have a few drawers by theme....boy, girl, birthday, beach.

Well there you have a small glimpse into my scrap room.  I did not show you my 3 birdies in 2 cages that share the room with me or my Ikea Raskog cart filled with my pocket page supplies or my photography station where I photograph my finished projects.  And there is also my numerous storage cubes and armoire....maybe next time.

Now I need to go back to work and complete week #21.....

Oh Ship!

When I saw this card sketch posted this week on Seize the Sketch, I knew it would be perfect to use with an idea that was rolling around in my head for a card.

I had gotten this awesome stamp set from Simon Says Stamp nearly a year ago and had never used it.   I am really glad to have a belated birthday card on hand because I have been known to forget a birthday once in awhile. Who hasn't??

I am also linking this card up to the following:

Get Whale Soon

I have been in the mood this week to make some cards and decided to make a get well card just to have on hand when I need it.  I am a sucker for a punny sentiment so I just loved this set when I saw it.  I used this sketch from Let's Capture Our Memories....I just rotated it on its side:

The stamp set I used is a Studio Calico exclusive and comes with matching dies.  Whoever thought that up is a genius...stamp and die cut??  Yes please!  And yet I rarely use my dies....that is just going to have to change.  I love how the die (when I place it properly on my stamped image...lol) leaves the PERFECT amount of white space around my image or sentiment.

I will be be back tomorrow to share one of my favorite cards that I have made in awhile.  I hope you will check back with me.

Thank you

I am glad that I was able to get time make a couple of cards tonight after work.. After a 9.5 hour work day and another 1.5 hours commuting I am often not in a very creative mood in the evening.  Or if I am, I lack energy.  An online friend of moine recently helped me out with a couplke things for a project that I am working on and I really want to let her know how much I appreciate it.

I used this awesome sketch from CAS(E) this Sketch:

Hi there and welcome to my project for the new Stuck on You Project Life challenge -- Texture!  There are so many ways to add texture to your Project Life pages and I incorporated a few of them here.  I embossed some of my cards, added felt numbers and letters, I used Thickers and I added a chipboard embellishment.  I also die cut the camera and layered that on one of my 4x6 cards.

Here is my left hand page:

And here is my right hand page:

Thanks Dad

Dave and I recently returned from a week out in beautiful Colorado.  While there, we were able to spend quite a bit of time with my 82 year old father and have him show us around his breathtaking state.  My dad has always loved the western part of our country and has always loved to travel.  I am just like him in that regard as Dave and I love to travel and one of our favoite states that we have been to is Colorado.  While there last month I took this selfie of dad and I.

I used this sketch from My Scraps and More Sketches:

I am also am entering this page in Scrap Our Stash's June Monochromatic Challenge.  I love my aqua papers!  I dug deep in my My Mind Eye's drawer for these.  My 5 embellishments I used on this page are:
1. Canvas stickers (round "fun" stickeron lower left and the small round stickers in the upper right)
2. Round chipboard camera piece and arrow banner
3.Die cut round "memory" sticker
4. Enamel dots
5. Thickers

Edited 8/13/15 to add: I am linking this up to Paper Issues current issue -- It's All About the Face

Congratulations You Rock!!

My sweet granddaughter Abby graduates from kindergarten this week. Sadly because of the 1000 miles between us I will not be able to be with her. I made her a card and bought her a pretty set of 3 pairs of earrings.  The good news is that I am going to see her a little later this summer and she and I have a date for a BIG ice cream sundae!

I used my old stand by and favorite Paper Smooches stamp set....Sentiment Sampler for the two sentiments.  The papers on the card are from Doodlebug and the cardstock is Stampin' Up. I was inspired by this photo for the Picture Perfect Challenge at Paper Smooches:

Thanks for stopping by my blog....have a  wonderful week.

Purple Sweetness

My mother-in-law and I share a love for the color purple.  Her birthday is this summer so I thought I would get a bit ahead on my card making and make her birthday card today.  I used my new Avery Elle stamps and this sketch from Mojo Monday:

I am just slipping this entry in under the wire at Mojo Monday but I LOVE working with their awesome sketches!

I hope your weekend was restful and fun and that this coming week is productive goes by quickly.  Thanks for visiting my blog.

I Love You

I love that watercoloring is currently trending.  I heat embossed my hearts and sentiment in white on this piece of watercolor paper then I watercolored over it.  The embossing resists the watercolors....pretty nifty, huh?

I am entering this card in Lawn Fawn's embossing challenge as the sentiments, patterened paper and sequins are all from Lawn Fawn.

Thanks for stopping by again and happy weekend!

Here We Go

This is the second year that my grandsons have played Little League.  This picture was posted by my son recently of Cole's team so I just HAD to get it documented.

I used this sketch from Boys Rule:

Thanks for stopping by my blog....hope you are enjoying your weekend.

Edited 11/16/14 to add:
I am linking this up with the current Paper Issues Get Your Game On theme.

Missing You #2

I used this stamp set and matching die earlier in the week for my oldest son and family and decided to make a card for my youngest son and his family.  I love my Lawn Fawn stamps and now they have matching dies which frankly are, to die for! (no pun intended...lol)

For this card I used the negative space that I had saved from the card I made a few days earlier and layered it over a sheet of vellum.  I then heat embossed the dotted "flight pattern" from Florida (where I live) to NW Indiana (where they live).  I added a tiny die cut heart to let them know my heart is in Indiana.  Then I heat embossed the "missing you" sentiment on vellum and added another little die cut heart.

I am entering this card in the Lawn Fawn Embossing challenge.

I will be back later to share more of my projects....I have been feeling very creative recently.

Enjoy the Journey

It has been very slow at work this week so that meant for another early release for my hubby and I.....boy we really love getting out of work at 1 or 2pm.  It feels like there is still some of the day left and we actually have enough energy to enjoy it.  Today I came home and created this layout documenting the highlight of our recent trip to Colorado.  We took a vintage train (complete with steam engine) from Durango to Silverton.  The views were magnificent.

I used this sketch #270 from Creative Scrappers for inspiration:

I took a little creative liberty with the sketch because I wanted fewer, larger pictures to show the majestic beauty of southwest Colorado.

I am also entering this page in Scrap & Play's Challenge #3 which is Tic-Tac-Toe.

I went right across the middle and used:
floral paper (at the top of my layout)
Enamel dots (on the frame around the picture in the center of the top row)
Fancy Pants Design product (the "Enjoy the Journey" frame)

Thanks for stopping by so I could share this with you.

Keep Calm and Father On

Here is another Father's Day card I made....this one is for my younger son Adam who is the father of two boys.  As a single dad, I think he is doing a terrific job and I want to tell him.

Happy Father's Day

I create 4 Father's Day cards per year......one each for my dad, Dave's dad and each of my sons who are pretty awesome dads if I do say so myself.  I think this one will go to my son Matt. I am entering it in Simon Says Stamp's Wednesday Father's Day/Masculine challenge.

My Camera Collection

About a year ago I won the MamaRazzi2 collection from Bo Bunny.  I loved it so much I could not bear to use it for awhile....I was saving it for some special pages.  Last night I pulled it out and did a page with it (see yesterday's post) and since it was still out and I was feeling creative I made another page tonight with it.  I think this page is my favorite of the two.  It tells the special story of how I inherited a number of cameras in my vintage camera collection from a very special lady.

I used this sketch from The Memory Nest:

And the twist was to use papers from more than one manufacturer....the vintage looking beige paper that my journaling is printed on is from my older Stampin' Up stash.

Edited 8/3/14 to Add:
I am linking this up to Paper Issues Say Cheese theme

I have really been feeling creative lately and I already have a layout planned for tomorrow night.  I hope my mojo and energy levels stay high.  Ususally I find it very difficult to be creative after working a 10 hour day and commuting another 90 minutes.  Wish me luck!!

He Snaps 'Em, I Scrap 'Em

My back is finally on the mend....I got some good meds from the doctor and worked a halfday today at work.  When I came home, I took a hot bath and a nap.  After waking refreshed from my nap and feeling creative I proceeded to create this page and 2 cards.  I feel quite accomplished.  I even planned out what I might get done tomorrow.

For this page I used sketch #83 from My Scraps and More Sketches:

I used my Bo Bunny Mama Razzi2 that I have been hoarding for a year.

Thanks for stopping by my blog.....I hope to be doing quite a bit of blogging this week.
