Visiting Uncle Dave

My husband's brother Aaron and his wife Cheri have 3 of the cutest kids outside of my grandchildren.  They all came down to Florida recently (they are from North Carolina) and while they were in the area I threw Dave a birthday party.  It was so much fun having them celebrate with us.  We had cupcakes and pizza and there were even some balloons.  This is the first of a few pages I will do to commemorate that day.

I am not ususally a double page spread kind of gal but when I saw this 2 page sketch from Let's Scrap I knew these pictures would be perfect.

Here is the left side of the spread....don't you love that photo frame?  I am entering this page in Scrapbook Circle's Framed Challenge.

And here is the right side of the layout:

I used Echo Park's Little Boy collection with some letters form a couple of other EP collections....Country Drive and A Boy's Life.

I am also entering this project over at Simon Says Stamp and Show Kaleidoscope of Color.

3 Months

My adorable granddaughter had her first appointment with a photographer back the end of November or beginning of December.  She was considerably easier to work with than her big sister.  I bought her this outfit and thinks she looks beautiful in it even if the photographer could not coax a smile out of her!

I used this sketch from Burlap and Buttercups:

The twist was to use mists or paint.  I went with Maya Mist Raspberry Pink.

A Special Day

This layout features some more of my husband's amazing photography.  I used the sketch from Sketch Inspiration this week and the last of my Fresh Print Clothesline papers from Little Yellow Bicycle.

I am entering this layout in Simon Says Stamp Favorite Word challenge.  "Special" is one of my favorite words as I believe that every day and everyone is special.  I believe in treating people that way and making them feel special and approaching every day as a special day.

Butterflies!

I just love the butterfly pictures Dave took last week on our trip to the Jacksonville Zoo.
I love the colors of American Crafts papers too and decided to make a VERY colorful layout.  I used this awesome sketch by Diana Fisher:

I was not only inspired by her sketch but also the layout she made with the sketch was a zoo layout.  I knew immediately that I also wanted to use it to document our trip to the zoo. There is a cool prize and a blog hop as part of the celebration.  You can see all the details HERE.

Butterfly Hollow

Last weekend we celebrated my husband's birthday.  We took a couple of days off to make for a long weekend and I am sad to say that I was sick on his birthday.  So unfortunately theat day we did not do much other than stay close to home and I was on the couch pretty much the whole day.  But I felt better the other three days and we were able to go out for Mexican, see the new movie "The Three Stooges" and go to the Jacksonville Zoo.  They had a pretty cool butterfly exhibit there and my extremely patient hisband got some magnificent pictures.  I enlarged this one (my favorite) to use as the focal point of my page.  I worked on another colorful page tonight with more butterfly pictures so stay tuned for more.

On this page I used Creative Scrappers sketch #202:

I used papers from 2 of my  olderEcho Park collections --Summer Days and Country Drive.

Cas-ual Friday Sketch card

I  love chevrons and butterflys and decided to use both of them on this birthday card for a friend from grade school.  She was my maid of honor when I married my first husband in the late 70's.  I started a family and she moved to Greece and we lost touch for nearly 30 years.  We recently found each other on Facebook and I was excited to hear that she is living about 3 hours south of me here in Florida.  We are going to have lunch together in May on our way home from our trip to the Florida Keys.

I used the awesome sketch at Cas-ual Fridays this week:

I got so excited when I saw the sketch this morning that I had to work on it right away.  I heat embossed the sentiment and used light green rhinestones for the butterfly bodies.

I am also linking my card up on Moxie Fab World's Tuesday Trigger Watercolor Butterflies.  I drew inspiration from the color pallet and butterflies on this lovely image:

There is still time to be inspired by both of these challenges.  Just click on the blog names for more info.

I Think His Tractor's Sexy

We have lived in Florida for 5 years now.  It is a tough job mowing the lawn in the brutal summer heat and humidity and Dave has wanted a lawn tractor for sometime.  Finally we were able to swing one ....along with a special interest free financing deal from Lowe's.  He is so excited to finally have a riding mower that he even cuts the neighbor lady's lawn!

For this layout I used my brand new Bella Blvd. Sunshine and Happiness papers and embellishments and Artful Delight's April sketch:

Edited 6/15/15 to add: I am linking this page up to Paper Issues current theme: Mist-er Fix-It

Easter 2006

I recently came across this picture on memory card in a digital frame that my son and daughter-in-law gave me.  It is of my adorable grandson Jacob at the age of 5 on Easter in 2006.  Although it is a bit blurry I love it.  Jake cuts his hair short now so the curls are long gone and boy I miss those curls!

I used this sketch from Frosted Designs:

I entered it in their sketch challenge....there is plenty of time to enter.
Check out the details HERE.

Remember

I recently received a sneak peek piece of Authentique's new upcoming collection Carefree and I absolutely love it. The name of this paper is Jovial and it has an awesome muted woodgrain pattern on the otherside.  I cut out a portion of the bees and honeycomb for this card.  I used Authentique's April card sketch:

The sentiment is from Ali Edwards/Technique Tuesday.

I am linking this up to Frosted Designs Fabulous Friday challenge to use hexagons.

The Paper Variety Be Inspired Challenge

Time for another fun challenge at The Paper Variety.  This time we would like to see how we have inspired you this year.  There is so much talent and inspiration at The Paper Variety --I am so priviledged to be a part of the design team and my craft and creativity has grown to new heights.

For my project I chose to scraplift my good friend Suzanne and use her awesome Center Step card tutorial to create a Mother's Day card for my wonderful mother-in-law.  You can see Suzanne's card and tutorial HERE.  Here is my take on it:

This card may look difficult but believe me, with Suzanne's tutorial it is not hard at all.

Here is the awesome prize our sponsor, Studio Calico is offering for the winner of this challenge:

There is some awesome inspiration available to you in the DT projects and tutorials that have been posted since the first of the year....so have at it and good luck in the challenge! You can link your entry HERE.

Hello Sunshine

I made this cute little card to send to a friend in the Midwest whom I had lost contact with for probably 15 years or so and about a year found me on Facebook.  I used a digital image and sentiment from Paper Smooches.  Look for an upcoming tutorial on the puffy cloud that I made.

I am entering this card in Frosted Designs Weather challenge and Simon Says Stamp April Showers Brings Spring Flowers challenge.

Cole & Jake's First Day of School

I scrapped a page for each of my grandsons with pictures of them alone on their first day of school this year but I wanted to also scrap this page for their dad's album.  I used the awesome March 16th sketch from Boys Rule:

I also grabbed a mix of papers from my stash and embellies from Basic Grey's Oxford collection.  As you can see....two days in a row I used that awesome hemp twine.  I love it!

Boys in the Woods

My boys always loved exploring the woods with their father and now my son takes his boys into the woods on weekend explorations.

I used the March 2nd sketch over at Boys Rule for the inspiration of this layout.

The awesome chipboard trees and leaves are from a prize package of 6 packages of chipboard from Bella Blvd. that I recently won.  I used Bella Blvd papers as well.  And that cute lil' "We are Family" flag?  That is also from Bella Blvd. also.  As you can tell I love that company's papers and embellishments

Paper Issues is having a Nature Walk theme and I thought this layout is perfect to link up for that theme.

Happy Birthday

Wow....it has been a whole week since I posted on here.  I was not feeling well most of last week or over the weekend.  And it was the birthday party we planned for Dave ...with me sick he had to do all the work....for his own party.  Now that really sucks.  But it was a nice day and we got to spend time with his brother and his family who came down from North Carolina.  I swear they have the cutest little kids except for my grandchildren of course!

I am starting to feel better somewhat.  I started some new meds and hopefully I have turned the corner.  I hate feeling sick like I was.  I still haven't been feeling very creative but I did recently whip up this card for a friend in Texas who's birthday was on Easter.  I used the DCWV April card sketch and their Celebration Stack which is an awesome birthday stack.  Here is the sketch:

There is still plenty of time to play....you can see all the details HERE.

For Peep's Sake

This is the Easter card I made this past weekend for my granddaughter Abby.  I used this card sketch from Card Patterns:

The pink floral paper, cute scalloped oval and sentiment is from Jillibean Soup's new collection Southern Chicken Dumpling Soup.  The little chick was made by my good friend Suzanne and I even added a touch of some of my new washi tape which is definitely my new addiction.

I am entering this card over at the Easter challenge at My Craft Spot.
