Be Brave With Me

My husband and I are going through a challenging time right now and this is the card I made for him over the weekend.  I included some heartfelt thoughts inside for him.  I am so glad I am a cardmaker...aren't you? For this card I used this sketch from Sugar Pea Designs:

Well....that is it for tonight.  Thank you for stopping by my blog.

A Cup of Kindness

I am still plugging along on making my Christmas cards....I have roughly 30% of the cards I need to send out this holiday season already made and if I keep making them at the rate of 3-4 per week, I will have all that I need by early December. For this card I used this lovely sketch by Kerry Urbatch for the Coffee Loving Cardmakers blog:
Friends who know me are probably shocked to see me use ribbon on my card.  I rarely do so but I love the way it looks on this card. If you would like to play along with this sketch, you can go HERE for all the details.

Happy weekend....I hope yours is lovely and restful.

We Mermaid to Be Friends

Mermaids are very trendy this summer so I stocked up on mermaid stamps and supplies because I have been infatuated with images of mermaids for a long time.  This is one of my favorites of the new stamps to have come out this summer. This stamp set is by Reverse Confetti and I used their August sketch:

I am entering it in their sketch challenge which you can get all the details HERE  There are a couple more days left to enter.

I am also entering this card in the Simon Says Stamp Monday Go Fish Challenge.

Thanks for stopping by tonight. I hope you are enjoying your weekend.

A Cup of Kindness Just For You

It was after 9pm but I got in my room tonight to do some die cutting for card s I want to make this weekend and I ended up putting this card together. I used this awesome sketch from the Coffee Loving Cardmakers blog:

For a quick card, I really like how it turned out. The sweet coffee cup, hot chocolate mug and the sentiments are digitals that were offered free by Julee Tillman, owner of Verve Stamps.  I think she actually created a stamp set from these images and sentiments and I really need to add it to my Verve collection.

 Thanks for stopping by tonight.

MFT Color Challenge 51

I usually shy away from color challenges....not sure why but I find them very difficult.  But recently I have picked up a number of stamp sets from My Favorite Things and in addition to their weekly sketch challenges, they also run a color challenge twice a month.  So recently I was at my local scrapbook store and I saw that she had some 6x6 MFT paper pads which will make entering the color challenges easier for me.  I decided to give the current challenge #51 a go. Here are the colors:

You can see I used all the colors....both in my coloring of the little girl (and her paper pieced skirt) and on the card.  After putting this card together last night, I realized it was not as had as I had first thought.  I am actually looking forward to the new challenge this Thursday.

I used this awesome card sketch again from Corri Garza at Paper Issues.

If you read my blog regularly you will remember that I made the birthday card for my grandson Jacob with the same sketch.  I rarely do that but I REALLY loved that card.

That's about it for tonight.  Thanks for checking out my blog.

Happy Birthday Dude!

I cannot believe that my grandson is turning 15 years old on Labor Day. And he is still as sweet and thoughtful as he was when he was little. What a blessing it is to have GOOD kids with big hearts. This card is for Jake and we bought him a cool geeky gift too that I think he will like....he and my hubby speak the same language....geek. LOL

I used this awesome sketch from Corri Garza at Paper Issues:

I am entering this card in the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Make for the Border Challenge because I used my new fringe border die....I LOVE that die...so fun!

I am also entering this card in the Seize the Birthday Anything Goes Challenge

And finally the last challenge I am entering is Mod Squad's Challenge The Die's The Thing.

That is it for tonight.....this Monday is in the books and I am sooo glad. Thank you for stopping by.

Keepin' Cool By The Pool

My granddaughters got to spend a fair amount of time by the pool this summer and I was glad I got some pictures of one of their outings to a friend's pool so I could document their fun. I used an awesome collection by Carta Bella and this sketch from Grand Diva's Creative Corner:

I am also entering this page in Rochelle Spears Scrappy Friends This and That Challenge.

I used several border strips from that collection and the strip up at the top right hand corner of my page is washi tape....the red with white polka dots.

Well that is it for tonight and whew, I am glad this Monday is DONE! Mondays are most definitely not my favorite day of the week. Thanks for dropping in and checking out my blog.  I will be back in a day or two with another project.

Skating With An Old Guy

I am making an album with layouts of when my son and grandsons were down here in Florida this summer and this is one of the pages. My hubby Dave got up early one morning, borrowed my son Adam's skateboard and he and 10 year old Cole went out skateboarding.  It was the first time Dave had been on a skateboard in over 30 years and he didn't do too badly. Cole, of course was a lot better than Dave but he has had a lot more practice.

When I saw this sketch at My Creative Sketches, I really loved it and wanted to make sure to use it.  I am just getting this entry in under the wire but I am so glad I made time this morning to get this page done. Here is the sketch I used:

Well that is about it for now.  I am going to bed because we are getting up early to go shopping at Trader Joe's (my favorite).  I hope to have more time tomorrow afternoon/evening to be creative and I will be sure to share my projects here.
Thanks for stopping by my blog.

I Hope Santa Spoils You Rotten

I just got this new stamp set from My Favorite Things with this elf and I LOVE it. I even used my brand new little fringe die....don't you just love that???I can see that little die getting a lot of use! I HAD to ink him up tonight and play with him even though I am soooo tired after a 12 hour work day.  Mondays truly suck. But being creative tonight really helped my mental state. I used this awesome sketch from MFT:

I am entering it in the MFT card challenge.  This is now the 12th Christmas card that I have made....only 48 to go...lol!!

Thanks for popping in and checking out my card and blog.

It's A Good Day....

Boy am I cutting it close to the deadline for this sketch challenge over at Mojo Monday. But I have a good excuse....you see, today is my birthday.  I was taken out for a nice breakfast by my hubby and then it has pretty much been phone calls all day long from family and friends wishing me a happy birthday.  A few calls were from people I have not seen in a long time so the calls were lengthy.  I had planned to work on several papercrafting projects today and had no idea, I would be so popular!! lol  Anyway...this is the only project I got to and I am slipping it in under the wire as the deadline is in less than 30 minutes.  I used this awesome sketch from Mojo Monday:

I am also entering this card in the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge -- Fabulous Florals.

Thanks for stopping by my blog....I hope you had an awesome weekend.  I sure did.

Oh Christmas Joy

Little known fact about me....my very first car was a 1963 2 door Chevy Impala SS.  It was maroon with a black interior and if I still had that car it would be worth a fortune.  But I totaled it in a very bad wreck after owning it less than 6 months.  Mechanical failure....the brakes gave out on me which was very scary for a 17 year old. Enter car #2...a 1973 Volkswagen Super Beetle.  I loved that car once I learned to drive it because it was a stick shift.  My dad taught me how to drive that car in the church parking lot.  Good times...NOT!  LOL, both he and I can laugh about it now but it was very stressful. Eventually I became very good at driving a manual transmission and I still love to drive a car where I have to shift and work the clutch. When I saw this stamp set that a friend has I knew I had to grab it because it reminded me of my sweet bug. I drove it for several years, met my first husband, got married and traded it in for a Camaro.  But that is a story for another day.  I am entering this card in the sketch challenge at Your Next Stamp. I used this sketch of theirs:

I do not have any stamps by Your Next Stamp but I had several on my wish list so last weekend I texted the owner of my LSS and ordered 4 sets.  I cannot wait until they come in!  Well I need to hit the sheets....4:30am comes very early....but at least tomorrow is Friday.

Together (is the best place to be)

I love my grandchildren and unfortunately I do not get to spend near enough time with them since I live in Florida and they live in the Chicago area. One of my favorite pictures is this one that Dave took of the four of us with his selfie stick at Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago on our recent trip up north.  My granddaughters and I purposely dressed alike...it was so cute all three of us wearing our anchor shirts. The weather was beautiful also and it is a day I will hold in my heart forever.

I just found a really cool challenge blog that is new to me called Challenge Yourself.  Each month they run a challenge and the twist is that you have be included in the layout.  It is a sad thing but I definitely do not include myself on my pages as often as I should so I am going to be checking this blog out regularly to remind myself to be present in my albums.  I used a summer theme for this layout and this awesome sketch:

I am slipping this page in right under the wire but if you want to check out their blog just click HERE for more info.

Thanks for stopping by tonight....it is almost the weekend!!
