Sandi @ 3 mos.

I found this baby picture of me in a box of photos from my mom after she passed away.  I recently scanned it and retouched it and reprinted it for this layout.  It seems like I am always scrapping everyone else and rarely myself so I decided to change that.  I don't thin you will see a great deal of layouts featuring me but I will sprinkle a few in occasionally.  I used Authentique paper and their July sketch on the BLOG:

Thanks for checking out my blog.

Izzy's 1st Birthday card

My sweet little granddaughter Isabelle will be a year old soon and I am so excited that we will be able to celebrate the occasion with her.  Living so far away I miss so many celebrations that I try to tie our visits to the midwest to someone's birthday or a holiday so I can party with my family.  My grandson hugged me a couple of years ago and said...."Grandma, I like it when you come to visit because it's always a party!"

I was inspired by this sketch from The Craft's Meow:

I also embellished the inside of the card which is something I have decided to do more of.  I think it really finishes off the card.  Here is the inside:

Toad-al Tomboy

My granddaughter is not much of a girlie girl....she has her moments when she likes to put on a dress and get fancy but she recently loved searching in her grandfather's backyard for toads.  She and her dad (my son Matt) found a couple of them and played with them one evening  She wasn't put off by them at all and didn't even squeal when they peed on her!  I know I would have!!

I used this awesome sketch from Sketch Inspiration:

I was also inspired by the color challenge over at Scrapfit's Workout #72 to use the colors sage green, brown and coral on a project.  My dear friend Theresa made the awesome froggies for me.  You can check out her incredible work HERE.

I am also linking this page up to Paper Issues Eclectic theme.  You can see all the awesome projects HERE.

Bow tie Buddies

Here is another page that I was able to finish for one of my son's childhood scrapbooks.  Funny how I thought nearly 30 years ago that those bow ties were cute but then again with such cute little boys they even made the bow ties look good!

This is the first time I used washi tape on a layout and I like the way it looks on the corners of the picture.  The background papers, letters, date and tape are all from Bella Blvd.  The rest of the embellies are from my stash.

I was inspired by The Scraproom Blog 7/13 challenge to use this as a starting point for a layout:

I love the versatility this gave me and used an enlargement as the focal point of my page with just a couple clusters of complimentary embellishments.

Beautiful

My granddaughter Isabelle is nearly a year old and lives 1000 miles from me.  I don't get many pictures of her so when her "other" grandma posted these on Facebook and tagged me I was thrilled.  I am so excited that in 2 weeks I will be in the Midwest visiting with my family....it has been nearly a year and I miss them immensely.

I used Bella Blvd's collection Sunshine and Happiness for this page and I am entering it in Frosted Designs One Word Title challenge and linking it up to Paper Issues Summer Lovin' theme.

Embossed washi tape card

I saw an intriguing techinque to dry emboss washi tape on card stock so I thought I would do it while making this birthday card for my mother in law.  I apply several strips of washi tape (don't you LOVE that wood grain one?) and then ran it through my Cuttlebug using my birthday sentiments folder.  To make the card look a bit more feminine I added the chocolate brown pearls.

I used this sketch from Card Positioning Systems:

Clearwater 1989

I am working on hard on filling up an album for each of my sons from their childhood so when we go to Chicago in a few weeks I can give them to each of them.  I am not done scrapping their childhood but I want to give them what I have done so far.  So here is another one towards that goal.  For this layout I used sketch #83 from Sketches in Thyme and my Echo Park collection Paradise Beach.

Thanks for checking out my blog and I hope you had a wonderful weekend.

Brothers

I love Julie Bonner's sketches and when I saw today that she created a sketch just for Boys Rule Scrapbbook Kits....well, I put housework aside and headed straight to my scraproom and created this page today.  It worked out perfectly to use this large 8x10 professional picture of my boys when they were so little and cute (now they are big but still cute!).  Here's the sketch that inspired me:

I love how colorful Bella Blvd. papers are so they were a natural choice for this fun and happy layout.  The cute little feltie vehicles have been in my stash FOREVER.  So glad I found the perfect home for them.

Future Gymnast

My grandsons both love the playgound at their local park.  Cole even had his birthday party at the park 2 years ago.  This layout features him doing some amazing things on the playground equipment.  He has a great deal of strength especially in his upper body.  Even his older brother Jacob was amazed! (see lower left picture)

For this layout I used nearly the last of one of my favorite collections from last year -- Echo Park Playground and this sketch from The Scraproom Blog:

The good thing about using up this collection is now I have room in my Echo Park drawer for all the awesome new collections coming out this week at CHA!  Woo Hoo!

Framed layout

Anyone who knows me or has read my blog for any length of time knows that I am a thrift store/yard sale junkie.  this awesome frame was one of my recent finds for under a dollar.  It had some funky print in it but I knew I could use it to frame a layout.  In keeping with our beachy home decor I made this layout specifically to fit in this odd sized 9x9 frame.  It is of my grandsons Jacob and Cole the summer of 2009 when they visited us here in Florida with their dad, my son Adam.  I love how they are holding hands as they venture out into the ocean for the first time ever.

Paper Bakery card sketch

After looking ahead in my planner I realized this morning that I have a bunch of birthday cards to make in the upcoming week or so.  So I got right on it this afternoon and whipped up this card for a former co-worker and friend of mine in South Carolina.  To add dimension to the card I popped some of the circles up with pop dots. I used scraps from Echo Park's Playground collection which was still laying on my desk from this morning's layout.  I also used this sketch from the Paper Bakery:

Let's Celebrate!

I tried something new on this card......I wanted to get in on the confetti trend and I had a bunch of tiny blue squares from using my new Martha Stewart punch.  So after stamping my sentiment and attaching my washi tape along the bottom of the card I ran several strips of adhesive down the front and threw the confetti at it.  What stuck I left so it was a truly random pattern.  Then to remove the stickiness, I dusted the card with baby powder.  I used some small glittered letters that say "Let's" and the exclamation point and I was done....less than 15 minutes from start to finish.  So save all those little pieces when you use a border punch....you never know how you can end up using them.

I am entering this card in Frosted Designs Fabulous Friday challenge -- Stamping.

Wedding Shoes

I don't like clutter (well except in my scraproom but those are all necessities, not clutter, right?) so I was recently going through my closet getting a big bag ready for Goodwill.  I came across the shoes I wore on my wedding day 9 years ago in Vegas.  They are beautiful shoes but not very comfy and I KNOW I will not wear them again.  What to do?  So I decided to photograph them and scrap the picture and now I can give away my shoes with no regret.

The red and white houndstooth paper is from Bazill and the felt roses are from my favorite Etsy shop -- Precocious Paper.  The chevron design is a stamp from Paper Smooches that I heat embossed with opaque embossing powder.  I used this inspirational sketch from Let's Get Sketchy:

54

The Yahoo scrapbook group that I belong to -- Scrappin'-n-Chattin' has a challenge this month to scrap ourselves at any given age.  I chose to scrap this recent picture of me and journal about where I am right now in my life.  I chose to hide the journaling in the glassine bag that my picture is matted on:

I used this beautiful Pagemaps sketch:

I was inspired to go monochromatic by the July challenge at My Mind's Eye so I picked out all the lovely yellow papers and embellishments from my overflowing drawer of My Mind's Eye goodies and got to work.  I do not often create monochromatic projects but I am very happy with the end result on this page.  Thanks for the inspiration MME!!

Love You

I tried a couple of new to me techniques on this card....I use a polka dot background stamp from Hero Arts and heat embossed it with clear embossing powder.  Then I combined two different Paper Smooches stamps for the sentiment.  I also used the negative space that was left after I cut my Spellbinders scalloped circle die on the front of the card.  Why didn't I ever think of doing that before? Finally, I added just a touch of washi tape.  I was inspired by this sketch from Paper Smooches Sparks Designer Draft Challenge:
