Visiting Uncle Dave

My husband's brother Aaron and his wife Cheri have 3 of the cutest kids outside of my grandchildren.  They all came down to Florida recently (they are from North Carolina) and while they were in the area I threw Dave a birthday party.  It was so much fun having them celebrate with us.  We had cupcakes and pizza and there were even some balloons.  This is the first of a few pages I will do to commemorate that day.

I am not ususally a double page spread kind of gal but when I saw this 2 page sketch from Let's Scrap I knew these pictures would be perfect.

Here is the left side of the spread....don't you love that photo frame?  I am entering this page in Scrapbook Circle's Framed Challenge.

And here is the right side of the layout:

I used Echo Park's Little Boy collection with some letters form a couple of other EP collections....Country Drive and A Boy's Life.

I am also entering this project over at Simon Says Stamp and Show Kaleidoscope of Color.

3 Months

My adorable granddaughter had her first appointment with a photographer back the end of November or beginning of December.  She was considerably easier to work with than her big sister.  I bought her this outfit and thinks she looks beautiful in it even if the photographer could not coax a smile out of her!

I used this sketch from Burlap and Buttercups:

The twist was to use mists or paint.  I went with Maya Mist Raspberry Pink.

A Special Day

This layout features some more of my husband's amazing photography.  I used the sketch from Sketch Inspiration this week and the last of my Fresh Print Clothesline papers from Little Yellow Bicycle.

I am entering this layout in Simon Says Stamp Favorite Word challenge.  "Special" is one of my favorite words as I believe that every day and everyone is special.  I believe in treating people that way and making them feel special and approaching every day as a special day.

Celebrate New Life Easter 2012

Just a quick and simple layout this time documenting Easter 2012 for my son and grandsons.  I am so proud that Adam and his boys celebrate the true meaning of Easter as well as enjoy all the fun aspects like Easter egg hunts and candy....lots of candy!

I used this sketch from My Scraps and More:

I am also entering this layout in Simon Says Stamp Anything Goes.

Butterflies!

I just love the butterfly pictures Dave took last week on our trip to the Jacksonville Zoo.
I love the colors of American Crafts papers too and decided to make a VERY colorful layout.  I used this awesome sketch by Diana Fisher:

I was not only inspired by her sketch but also the layout she made with the sketch was a zoo layout.  I knew immediately that I also wanted to use it to document our trip to the zoo. There is a cool prize and a blog hop as part of the celebration.  You can see all the details HERE.

Butterfly Hollow

Last weekend we celebrated my husband's birthday.  We took a couple of days off to make for a long weekend and I am sad to say that I was sick on his birthday.  So unfortunately theat day we did not do much other than stay close to home and I was on the couch pretty much the whole day.  But I felt better the other three days and we were able to go out for Mexican, see the new movie "The Three Stooges" and go to the Jacksonville Zoo.  They had a pretty cool butterfly exhibit there and my extremely patient hisband got some magnificent pictures.  I enlarged this one (my favorite) to use as the focal point of my page.  I worked on another colorful page tonight with more butterfly pictures so stay tuned for more.

On this page I used Creative Scrappers sketch #202:

I used papers from 2 of my  olderEcho Park collections --Summer Days and Country Drive.

Cas-ual Friday Sketch card

I  love chevrons and butterflys and decided to use both of them on this birthday card for a friend from grade school.  She was my maid of honor when I married my first husband in the late 70's.  I started a family and she moved to Greece and we lost touch for nearly 30 years.  We recently found each other on Facebook and I was excited to hear that she is living about 3 hours south of me here in Florida.  We are going to have lunch together in May on our way home from our trip to the Florida Keys.

I used the awesome sketch at Cas-ual Fridays this week:

I got so excited when I saw the sketch this morning that I had to work on it right away.  I heat embossed the sentiment and used light green rhinestones for the butterfly bodies.

I am also linking my card up on Moxie Fab World's Tuesday Trigger Watercolor Butterflies.  I drew inspiration from the color pallet and butterflies on this lovely image:

There is still time to be inspired by both of these challenges.  Just click on the blog names for more info.
