Another Back to School card

I made Back-to-School cards for my grandsons who are going into 2nd and 6th grade.  Jacob (who is going into 6th grade) was telling me this weekend on the phone that he is excited because this year he has different teachers for different subjects and gets to move around from class to class like high schoolers.  It encourages me to see my grandchildren excited about going to school. This card is for Jake with a few words of encouragement and some goodies.  I sure miss my grandkids.....I live 1000 miles away and I sure would have loved to have been there for their first day of school.

Back to School card

Ahhhhh...It is every mother's favorite time of the year -- Back to School!!  I decided to make a couple of cards for my grandsons Jacob and Cole who are entering 6th and 2nd grade respectively.   They live in the Midwest and I am 1000 miles away missing them.  :(  This card is for Cole.  I have a box of goodies that I collected over the summer for them that I am sending out with their cards.  It gives me the chance to slip some grandmotherly words of encouragement and wisdom to them along with a few bucks too!

Artful Delight Guest Designer Week #2

I am being featured all this month on the Artful Delight blog as guest designer.  I loved working with their card kit and this week I am showing the versatility of the kit by making two very different cards:

I made this card for my brother in-law and sister-in-law in North Carolina to thank them for my recent birthday gift and the hospitality they showed us on our recent trip up to see them.  Honestly once I knew what I was going to do with this card, it came together in under 15 minutes....ahhh, the pleasure of working with a kit where all the coordination has been done for me.

Dave's nephew Dakota had a birthday coming up (his 16th, I'm pretty sure) so I wanted to go for the grungy look.  The little striped bag was perfect to hold a Game Stop gift card.

I wanted to thank Leeanne at Artful Delight for the opportunity to work with her kits and thank you for checking out my blog today.

Week #21

Finally I have a couple of weeks with a large number of pictures.  I am making a conscious effort to take more pictures.  I really like the way this week turned out.  The vertical orientation of this left hand page is a nice welcome change.  Here is page 2 (also known as the right hand page):

I took the pictures of these pages on two different days and the lighting was very different but here is what they look like together:

On the Project Life challenge blog that I run with my friend Suzanne, Week-2-Week, the current challenge is to include food on your spread.  My hubby and I are are truly "foodies" so I don't think a week goes by without some pictures of food on my pages.  Dave often takes the pictures and calls them "food porn"!  LOL  Suzanne and I would love to have you enter our challenge....there is an awesome prize.  Click HERE for all the details.

There are not a whole lot of PL challenges out there but Stuck on You Sketches runs one every month and I am linking this week up to their arrow challenge.  I usually always have arrows on my pages also.  Click HERE for the details on their challenge.

Finally Paper Issues is spotlighting Project lIfe with some awesome prizes from the founder of Project Life -- Becky Higgins.  I am linking this week up over there too.  HERE are the details for their current issue.

Thanks for checking out my blog and I hope your week is lovely and very productive.

Project Life Week #20

I am officially 3 months behind is documenting 2013 but that is because I have been busy living the life I want to document!  I am not stressed....the weeks will get done and in fact I am enjoying the process.  Reminds me of one of my favorite sayings...."It is not the destimation, it is the journey".  I am thoroughly enjoying the journey.

Being that it is just my husband Dave and I we have a number of weeks that we don't do much but work, eat and sleep.  I try to find the little things that a week holds to document like receiving a prize in the mail that I won, or our sweet smelling confederate jasmine in the back yard.  Almost every week I have a reminder of how much I love my husband or my grandkids or other family members.  My extended family live 1000 miles away so it is important that I document that since I only see them only a couple of times a year.

I am linking this week up at Paper Issues Project Life Issues.

Have a wonderful week and I will be back in the morning to announce the winner of my blog candy from the Whimsical Twist blog hop.

Tinsel in a Tangle stamp #2

This is one of my favorite stamps and I plan to use it quite a bit for my Christmas cards this year.  This is the second time I have used it.  I made my background out of several different washi tapes and I used this sketch from the Unity Challenge blog:

Happy Birthday Diane!!

We celebrated my MIL's birthday today.  She is 70 years old but honestly looks 50.  She is amazing!
I made this card for her:

I used this sketch from the Paper Crafting Crew:

The stamp is from Stampin' Up as is the white cardstock for the base of the card and also the card base that I stamped my sentiment on.  I do not use any other card stock for stamping besides this smooth white SU cardstock.  It is amazing and gives a clear sharp image every time.  The papers are from Basic Gray and the little badge is from October Afternoon's Cake Walk Collection.

I am also entering this iin the following challenges:

New Challenge at Week-2-Week

Wowzers! It is already August! This is one of my favorite months of the year --not only do I have a birthday this month but so does my mother-in-law, daughter-in-law and my adorable youngest grandchild....Isabelle Grace who will be 2 on August 16th.

To celebrate this month I am offering a special prize....one of THE most talked about collections from the recent summer CHA......

Bella Blvd's Snapshots collection!!

My LSS just called me and told me the collections I ordered are in. Due to my work schedule, I have not gotten over there to pick them up yet so I do not have a photo. However you can see more HERE

So, you ask.....what is required to be in the running for this super cool prize? The challenge this time is to make your own journaling card. Here is one that I whipped up the other night:

I used a sheet from my 6x6 Fancy Pants paper pad Down By the Shore, cut it to 3x4 and rounded the corners. Then I punched 3 cute little anchors out of the bottom with my Studio Calico anchor punch and backed it with navy cardstock. I took a small strip of red mini chevron paper and adhered that and topped it with a sticker from the same Fancy Pants collection. I added some faux stitching around the edges and called it done. I loved making this and could easily get addicted to making them. What a great way to use up your scraps and unused stickers.

I also made a couple of cards for this Week #20 page:

I made the Click! card in about 90 seconds (cut the scrap paper, rounded the corners and added 2 Simple Stories stickers). I also made the Hockey Is Life 4x6 journaling card with an old epoxy sticker.

Alright so now it is your turn. Let me see what you can make. If you would like some more inspiration check out THIS awesome recent blog post on the Pebbles blog by Nicole Nowosad.
You have until noon on August 14th to link your project. I will announce the winner that evening and we will have a new challenge on August 15th. Go HERE to link up with us.

I am entering this page in the following challenges:

Scrap Your Story's DIY challenge.  I love their challenges and was glad to finally find the time to enter one again.
